1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Love Dilana - but am sick of "The Who" and their music so didn't like
this song choice.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
Love this song - think she did pretty well with it, tho her movements
were a bit over the top.
Post by The Sentinel
3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
eh, a little too theatrical maybe?
Post by The Sentinel
4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
The rock stars seemed to like it - for me she was very flat on this.
Post by The Sentinel
5. Zayra Alvarez
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
A good song but didn't like her take on it. And man, that outfit. Tho I
liked the hat.
Post by The Sentinel
6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
was okay but he doesn't really do it for me.
Post by The Sentinel
7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Absolutely, and by far, the BEST of the night! SUPERB!!!
Post by The Sentinel
8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
Love the song but thought her version was too cutesy. Tho she does have
an appeal but don't think she's right for this band.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
Man, finally a song that suits him - and I mean that literally!!!!
Actually didn't do too bad on this one - I could make out the words.
Post by The Sentinel
10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
not bad but again, nothing great.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Love Dilana - but am sick of "The Who" and their music so didn't like
this song choice.
This is her first performance that didn't give me the chill. It proves that
Dilana is too good to be in Supernova. Once she tried to fit in other's
shoes, she lost her power. For her own sake, she better flies solo. And if
the band really loves her, they BETTER not to choose her as the lead singer.
IT DOESN'T FIT.

I think eventually they will choose Toby or Ryan because the three middle
age men still think they are good looking studs. They won't allow women in
the boys' club. Magni is short and looks old. Lukas is too weird and ugly in
their eyes.

I think Dilana is actually too good for this band as well. And while I
didn't like her singing the Who song I think it was because it was a
Who song and not Dilana. I grew up during the time the Who was big and
30 years later they are still playing the same freekin two songs by
them that I was sick of back then. Dilana has such stage presence - I
think she would basically make the "boys" of Supernova seem invisible
and they might not like that. I keep fearing the band will choose Lukas
but he is my least favorite. I want to smash his face in (is that
mean?).

Seems reasonable to me. Ok, maybe it is mean, but I understand because I
feel the same way. If all you want is rock star schtick, well ok then,
*that* he can do well; but he is the least of them vocally. Especially
this week's song. He was getting high praise for his falsetto? His
falsetto was *horrible*. But don't get me started :-)

When Lukas sings, he sounds like he's throwing up. Can you imagine 2
hours of this?

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
I still don't like her voice... and it didn't mesh well with Gilby's.
Vocals were not good. Pete would be rolling over in his grave, if he was
dead.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
Started out nice, but went downhill fast after she stood up. Desperate as
usual, although demonstrated it in a different way than usual.
Post by The Sentinel
3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
And so it starts to unfold. I know this is reality tv, but I can't help but
think there's something... strange about this guy. Sometimes he has this
look on his face like you just kicked his dog and now he's going to kick
your ass or kill you.

4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
Once again showed how superior she is in every way to Dilana.

5. Zayra Alvarez

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is starting to wind down, it seems.

6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)

His chill and mellow attitude tells me he doesn't want this gig. He could
probably do quite well on his own.

7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
A bit iffy at the start, but overall another solid performance.
Post by The Sentinel
8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
She looks cute this week. Overall it was "cute". That pretty much sums it
up. She basically has no believably range emotionally.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
Yeah, "unbelievable" sums it up. Last week was so scripted, as was all of
his previous "singing". The winking is really starting to annoy me. No
doubt he'll get the encore.
Post by The Sentinel
10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Etc... Ok.

Bottom 3 at the end of the show:
Jill
Zayra
Patrice

Who should go: Lukas, Dilana and everybody in the bottom 3 at the end of the
show
Who will go: Tough one this week. It could be any of those three or Josh.

I wonder if voting will still increase this week or level off. We'll know
if they mention it or not.

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
I never thought The Who were deserving of all the hype they received. That
being said, Dilana owned the stage, sang the hell out of the song, and did a
very good job. She really is a tiny little thing with a HUGE presence.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
Jill had the unenviable position of following Dilana. I thought her voice
sounded good, she has an engaging stage presence, and she's HOT in a Barbie
kind of way. She has taken the earlier criticism to heart and is actually
controlling her voice now. Very well done.
Post by The Sentinel
3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
The guy can sing, but I can't get past the fact that he LOOKS JUST LIKE
DAVID BLAINE. I keep waiting for him to lock himself in a case or something.
Post by The Sentinel
4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
Ballsy choice(no pun intended). Her voice isn't as strong as Supernova made
it seem, but she's an engaging person.
Post by The Sentinel
5. Zayra Alvarez
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
I absolutely LOVE this woman. She toned down the histrioncs a bit this week,
turned in a more subdued performance, and actually sang. She picked a very
difficult song to do(Bowie's phrasing and pacing in this era were pretty
tricky) and held the audience in the palm of her hand. I'm pulling for her.
Post by The Sentinel
6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
Hate him. Hate the smirk. Hate the stupid head bob. Hate the faux John Mayer
voice.
Post by The Sentinel
7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Just a man and a guitar, and he held the attention of everyone in the
auditorium. Very good.
Post by The Sentinel
8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
Patrice stikes me as a middle class good girl who consciously decided to be
a bad girl rock star. She reeks of falseness and pretention. Not a very good
singer.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
Tough act to follow, that Thom Yorke. Lukas' voice is nowhere near as big
and powerful as Yorke's, but he made the most of his limited instument and
performed the song with intensity. His stupid WINK at the end of the
performance didn't fit with the darkness and melancholy of the song. Too
Vegas.

10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Liked it. Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid performance.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Love The Who, didn't love this rendition. Everything, from Gilby's
guitar to the House Band to the vocals just seemed off. I can't put my

I also think I may be the only one watching the show who doesn't really

"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
What the aitch ee double hockey sticks was that? Being an Ian Hunter
fan in general and a Mott the Hoople fan in particular (Google them,
young 'uns!) I gotta tell you, Zayra not only murdered this song, she
dismembered it and fed it to her dogs, then killed the dogs just for
good measure. This was butchery at its worst, and the less said about
it, the better.

6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
A good performance. The song is a good fit for his voice. He still
needs to smirk less. It seems that he's inherited Phil's head bobble,

"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Good performance. Dude can sing, no doubt.

8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
Another one who needs to stop smiling. It just doesn't seem serious
with her. I'm looking for another "My Iron Lung" style performance
from her, and get "Remey" all over again. Which is too bad -- I
genuinely like her and want to see her stick around some more, but she
isn't making it easy on herself.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
This is the type of performance I've been waiting for from him. It
seemed a bit short, though, so there wasn't that slow build to "The
Note". His natural voice is so much better than the gravel-marble
mouth he's done in the past. His falsetto was surprisingly good, too.
My choice for the encore.
Post by The Sentinel
10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Good job again. I hope there's a great performance in there,
somewhere.

My bottom three: Dilana, Jill, Zayra
The likely bottom three: Patrice, Jill, Zayra

Likely to go home: Patrice or Jill -- flip a coin. I'd rather see
Jill go before Patrice, though.

Who I'm begging them to send home: Zayra. I don't think I can stand

dislike. Or absolutely hate. I don't think I can take any more of her!

I agree, so I won't say much about the song but I will say something about her outfit.
While it looked nice enough from the back, I don't think Zayra has the curves to pull

frankly for her it seems like it's all about trying to outrage the audience rather
than to entertain us.

I think Dave is going way out of his way to criticize Toby. Let's
consider the time when he went into the crowd after Dilana did her
thing (I think it was Dilana). Dave gave him the 'copycat' treatment.
But come on, Toby probably already had that planned. What's he
supposed to do?

And this week, Dave give him pain for using a prop. Gimicks in small
doses they all say. But he and the band have no problem with Ryan
doing his theatrics (can't get gimmickier than that), Dilana singing
infront of Supernova, Storm stage diving or Jill hopping off the stage.
They're all gimicks. The criticism of Toby doesn't seem honest.

For that matter, why did they give Josh grief for playing his guitar,
and then praise Patrice for the same move? Bah...I guess it doesn't
need to make sense....

Likely to go home: Patrice or Jill -- flip a coin. I'd rather see
Jill go before Patrice, though.
Ditto. Now get out of my head! :)
But it's so comfy! And once I stock up the beer fridge, I'll never
need to leave! :-)

I hope she doesn't leave tonight so that I can see if she looks as freaky live as she
does on TV when I'm at the taping this Sunday.
You poor soul...you're actually going to voluntarily subject yourself
to a live Zayra performance? At least I can hit the pause and fast
forward buttons...I'll expect a full report from the taping -- it would
be interesting to hear what they cut out.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Everything, from Gilby's guitar to the House Band to the vocals just seemed off.
It was slowed way down from the original.
Yeah, that's it. I wonder why they would mess with it like that, and
why would Gilby go along with it?
So, we were wondering (while watching it) if Gilby is out-of-practice and
just wouldn't be able to keep up with the original tempo...
Post by g***@maki.ca
I think Dave is going way out of his way to criticize Toby.
And I think sometimes those guys just want to be contrarian to shake things
up...
Post by g***@maki.ca
For that matter, why did they give Josh grief for playing his guitar,
and then praise Patrice for the same move? Bah...I guess it doesn't
need to make sense....
I noticed that too. Like it's impressive that a girl can play guitar but
not a guy?

"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
No comments, Sentinel?! :(

I actually thought this was Dilana's weakest performance to date. This
song has to be given 110% to work, and she was coasting at, maybe, 70%
of what she's capable of. She didn't get it done for me, for the first

However, all the praise she got tipped the band's hand - Dilana is
obviously the front-runner right now.

It's a Bowie song, just not one that he wrote for himself, originally.

As the story goes, Mott the Hoople was on the verge of disbanding due
to lack of success. I believe their label even dropped them. David
Bowie was a fan of the band and stepped up. He produced their next
album and wrote "All the Young Dudes" for them. The Mott the Hoople
rendition is the definitive version.

What happened to the songwriting competition?
They are probably given extra time to work on them with Supernova
checking the songs out during the week so their top choice or couple of
choices can go onstage for the national audience. That's just a guess
but it's a safe bet that like last season with JD and INXS, whoever
does best with the songwriting, will be the frontrunner and this will
be their show to lose.

What happened to the songwriting competition?
I don't think it was a competition, per se. They billed it as a
'clinic'.

The mansion show had snippets and comments from some of the band (to
the camera, not to the contestants). The web site had all the
contestants doing their full songs, but with no commentary. They were
up yesterday -- no idea if they're still there. Some were good, but
none were spectacular.

It was in the web episode at http://rockstar.msn.com/

I also found out you can watch the full versions of all their songs on the

arrows until you come to "Full Songs From Week 6 Songwriting Clinic".

God that site is a pain in the ass to navigate.

I like Lukas and his gothic ways.

Besides, everyone and I do mean EVERYONE just about hated JD last year and
he won it all.

I think it's going to be Dilana (who I love), Magni (who will be top 2 with

Also, how can Zayra even look herself in the mirror knowing she's only being
kept around to be made fun of. The band said that themselves.

Not showing up as binaries on my end.
GAH.. it's driving me insane.. Whenever there is a supernova post with a
date in brackets (so it seems)... it shows up as a binary post.

Anyone else using Xnews that might know why this is happening, please feel
free to offer up a solution!

Would you happen to know why all your posts related to SUPERNOVA show
up as binaries, by any chance?
I've noticed that too... Doesn't come in like a regular thread...

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
I don't get her. She seems very genuine...but seeing her front a band?
After 3 songs I would be tired of her quaking voice.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
She can sing- when she's not screaming.. better chops than Dilana, but
has the performance thing so screwed up she has no chance with this.

3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
Shown he can sing 'some' songs... but his whole affect is not visually
appealling to me.

4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
Again, she can sing 'most' songs.. but a whole night? Her vocal chops
are just ok (imo).

5. Zayra Alvarez
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
Let's face it... visually stunning. How bout that outfit! I see her
fronting one of those no-name bands I see on Saturday Night Live (that
suck) - way not right for this, though.

7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Best of the guys.. great chops.. but has that smirky, overly cocky
attitude that shows up sometimes.

8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
I really like this girl. She is just now starting to relax and sing.
But like someone said, has that 'good girl' trying to be a 'bad girl'
sort of look that works against her (unfairly).

"Creep" by Radiohead
Gets the best out of what minimal vocal ability he has... but not good
enough. Again, I'd be tired of him after 3 songs.

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Dilana continues to be my favorite. As someone else mentioned, I
thought Gilby's guitar playing was a little weird on this song, which
is so well known for it's opening riff. Dilana was reserved and raw
all at the same time. I love her.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
I really like this song and I thought that Jill did a surprisingly good
job with it. That said, I have completely lost interest in Jill.
Post by The Sentinel
3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
I thought this was... okay. The black wig at the beginning was
ridiculous but the singing was pretty good. I'm beginning to think
that Ryan doesn't have much range.

"We Are the Champions" by Queen
Boring. I like Storm alright, and I know everyone's pulling for her,
but for me she's just okay.

5. Zayra Alvarez
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
Horrible. Terrible. Awful. I know that there are several other
singers who have no chance of getting this job, but I am really tired
of Zayra's little act and her complete lack of singing ability.
Post by The Sentinel
6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
This wasn't bad, but the whiney boy-band tone to Josh's voice continues
to put me off. And why didn't the band point out how Tommy overpowered
him, like they did with Patrice? Talk about your double standard.
Post by The Sentinel
7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Amazing. Magni is amazing. I've never heard this song before but it
was beautiful, best of the night.

8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
gahh, could we please have a double elimination tonight, getting rid of
Zayra and finally putting Patrice out of her misery? She is a
perfectly competent, even very good singer, but this is the absolute
wrong kind of music for her.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
Color me astounded; I actually enjoyed it and this was one of two
performances I listened to twice (Magni's being the other). Who knew?
Hated the wink at the end, though.

10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Toby had me until he pulled out the megaphone. I know JD did that in
RSINXS, but it fit the song. No way did the megaphone work in this
song (which just happens to be one of my favorites; I love David
Byrne). I still like Toby but when is he going to do something
amazing?

Tonight's show was great. Only one performance (Zayra) really stunk,
and the rest ranged from good to outstanding.

Encore: should be Magni but will probably be Lukas

My top three overall: Dilana, Magni, Toby
My top three tonight: Dilana, Magni, Lukas

Bottom three: Zayra, Josh, Patrice
Going home: Zayra (pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease)

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
This is one of those songs that I'd heard ENOUGH for three lifetimes
by, oh, 1975. Yet, she made it at least mildly interesting. And she
just liked like a pro, doing it with Gilby. Don't know if she can
sing, but hoo-boy, is she a performer.
Post by The Sentinel
2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
Jill is a total pro, but perhaps more a studio type than a lead
performer. Sorry, Jill, this was a shot for you, but, well, maybe
you're just too sane, or something. Great performance of a difficult
song, btw, but that's the problem, somehow this gets mentioned last,
rather than first.
Post by The Sentinel
3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
Geez, that was good, good song choice, too, for such an ancient
anthem. Is it possible that Ryan's awful first three weeks were
*scripted*, that they told him to sing badly, that they'd get him
thru, and then he could turn it on? Don't know about the eye shadow,
hey Ryan, don't be drinking from Lucas' water glass.
Post by The Sentinel
4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
Storm is Dilana without the cigarettes and piercings, or at least
that's how she sees herself, and perhaps how Dilana sees her.
However, this song didn't work for her, the band was faint with
praise. When Storm gets freaky, it's too freaky, and generally she's
nice, and probably too nice for the likes of Supernova. Kind of an
amateur, if equally talented (better voice?), version of Jill.
Post by The Sentinel
5. Zayra Alvarez
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie
Missed the first half, inspected the costume, yeah OK she was very
Ziggy, but that's kind of antique now, not a great song choice.

6. Josh Logan (with Tommy Lee)
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
This was a Dawn performance, a teddy bear showing its fangs. Blech.
Josh is an excellent singer, but this is not the venue.

7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
Magni is a total pro, but his song choices and performances often
leave me just a *little* cold. I think it's Magni who needs the
coaching from the band, to get to the next level, but they respect him
too much to nag, or even judge.
Post by The Sentinel
8. Patrice Pike
"Instant Karma" by John Lennon
Bad, bad song choice, a mellow song, even with the yelling, and your
problem being too much mellow already. May I respectfully suggest
that anyone standing up there with an acoustic guitar, is wasting
their time? This includes Magni, btw.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
Creep.

The band likes him more than I do, but do they take him seriously, or
should they? I dunno.
Post by The Sentinel
10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Yeah, OK, again, like several other contestants, a talented guy, who
just needs a transfusion of Dilana to move the performance level into
star territory. Not louder, not crazier, it's Stanislavsky, method
acting, orgone box, stepping outside the wheel of Karma, I dunno,
feeling it, channeling it, being it, making it your own dawg, ...

Encore: Ryan again, hey, and no grand piano this time.

Who goes: I dunno, probably one of the girls.

1. Dilana (with Gilby Clarke)
"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who
Solid performance, but, in my eyes, she is starting to show some
cracks in her image. I don't know why, but suddenly I am getting this
impression that she is not as nice as she has tried to make herself
out to be. In the web reality episode, when they are picking their
songs, she pushes for Lukas to do Creep, telling him that it will
allow him to showcase his vocals. Then when she hit it off and the
camera zoomed in on her during the band's comments, she looked a bit
pissed off. I am wondering if she might have been trying to set him
up for a fall, figuring he wouldn't do as well as he did. She is
just starting to show me this side of her that seems to think she is
above everyone else. I still think she is one of the frontrunners,
but before this week, I was so impressed with her performance skills,
the fact that I really do not like the tone of her voice didn't really
turn me off on her. Now I am starting to notice that more.

2. Jill Gioia
"Mother Mother" by Tracy Bonham
I am so turned off by Jill that I pretty much tune out everything she
sings. It was again oversung. She needs to go home soon, but there
is at least 1 person who should be out the door first.

3. Ryan Star
"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones
Solid vocal performance. A bit of a strange stage performance, but at
least it shows that he can change it up. I have this very strange
feeling all of a sudden that we are looking at one of the final 2 or 3
with Ryan.
Post by The Sentinel
4. Storm Large
"We Are the Champions" by Queen
As we have seen in the past, this song can be murder on some singers.
It tore apart 2 of the rockstar contenders last year, although one was
strong enough and did it early enough to survive and flourish
afterwards. I was pleased to see that Storm did have the range for
this song. I didn't think it was a great stage performance, but it
really didn't have to be. She sounded strong and did it justice.
Post by The Sentinel
5. Zayra Alvarez

Please go home. She has become a joke and if she is in the bottom 3

"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots
I don't think he is right for the band, since they seem to want to go
totally hard core, but he has a nice voice and I think he did a very
good job wiht this song.
Post by The Sentinel
7. Magni
"The Dolphin's Cry" by Live
I also think this was a great vocal performance, however I am not
quite sure that Magni is right for Supernova either. It is sad when
someone being normal seems to be a detriment, but there it is. I don't
see him really getting into very hard core stuff. I am leaving myself
open to being surprised. I guess we will wait and see.

8. Patrice Pike

She is one of the next ones that should be going home, right after
Zayra and Jill. She just does not stand out enough. She is competent,
but that is not good enough to win something like this.
Post by The Sentinel
9. Lukas Rossi
"Creep" by Radiohead
I still think he struts just a bit too much at times, but his vocals
were solid this week. He is a performer and has the edge that is
needed for this band. How far he goes depends on how willing he is to
take the band's advice and continue showcasing his vocals while still
stepping up the performance level.
Post by The Sentinel
10. Toby Rand
"Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads
Didn't like this song on him, but I do think he has a nice voice and
should be around for quite a while. I don't see him winning this, but
I can see him making it to the final 3 or 4.

Who will be in bottom 3: I think they had it right at the end of the
show - Patrice, Jill and Zayra. I think those 3 were probably in the
bottom 3 by a lot. I don't see the order changing much.

Who should go: Zayra

Who will go: Probably one of the other two ladies and I must say,
while I am so ready for Zayra to go home, I won't lose any sleep if it
is one of the others (Patrice or Jill). If it is anyone but one of the
those 3, then someone was seriously robbed.

2 encores tonight: first Lukas, then Magni

The people who were in the bottom 3 at some point during the night:
Jill
Josh
Zayra
Ryan
Patrice

The first name Brooke mentions is Zayra...

who is safe.

The first person in the bottom 3 is

1. Jill Gioia
"RESPECT" by Aretha Franklin
Typical oversinging from Jill. She's way past her sell by date.

2. Josh Logan
"Shooting Star" by Bad Company
Very sedate. Almost lazy singing. He's not even trying.

Down to Patrice and Ryan.

And the last person in the bottom three is:

3. Ryan Star
"Listen to the Silence" by Depeche Mode
That was awkward. He seems to alternate between a singing style where he's
not really sure of himself, and an amazing hard rock belting voice like Dee
Snider or Bruce Dickinson.

Gilby runs down a critique of each of them, before telling Ryan they're
going to give him another chance. Looks like he may be this year's Marty
Casey.

Down to Josh and Jill.

Josh and Jill went up this hill, and both got axed by the tommy hawk.

I can't fault him for his musical tastes, if Bad Company is one of his

shortened version of this song. It loses all meaning if the last verse
is dropped.

I can't believe Patrice missed the bottom three. When Ryan said he
would do Depeche Mode, I thought of Matt and his Duran Duran song
choice. The difference is that Ryan pulled it off. Easily head and
shoulders above the other two. Not surprising that he was spared.

So the double axe is taken out, eliminating two singers who didn't fit
the band for varoius reasons. Gilby's wife is probably happy. I'm
wondering if the private jet isn't large enough to take everyone, so
they needed to cut their passenger list down some...

DM still has major street cred, DD does not. The arrangement mostly
even worked, though his microphone mostly didn't.

I really liked Jill as a professional, she always did well, she just
didn't have the IT factor, the "oversinging" is only what everyone
does and the band certainly wants. But I'm glad they did a double
elim, could do another next week, really.

Very good point on the shortened "Shooting Star". Also, his perfomance
of "Interstate Love Song" was odd as they cut the chorus (the chorus!!)
in half. A bad arrangement IMO. There's no way that Tommy's playing
on that song was spontaneous with that arrangment. He would have had
to rehearse it with the band.

Anyhow, Josh would be better off singing white-boy soul (a la Maroon 5,
for example).
