Just came across this article in JAM! Music:

http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Lowdown/2006/11/27/2516748-ca.html

A few key details:

JD Fortune is writing an 11-song concept album inspired by a dream he
had about going to Hell and back. He intends these songs to be used for
the next INXS album, not for a solo album. He says his INXS bandmates
are "loving it, absolutely loving it".

INXS are no longer signed to Burnett/Epic. JD sees this as a good
thing, because now they are free to search for a better deal. JD says
the band is "working with some really great people right now and we're
just in the middle of doing our own label with a company out of the
U.K.".

The "Switch" album has sold less than one million copies worldwide.

This makes me think of that line in "This is Spinal Tap." Marty is
talking to their manager about how Spinal Tap is now playing smaller
theaters rather than large arenas:
"Does this mean the popularity of the group is waning?"
Ian replies, "Oh, no, no, no, no....uh, I just think their appeal is
becoming more selective."
:-)

Nothing like painting the picture a bit different than it really is,
JD.

Boooooooorrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've met them too. Woo hoo, give me a medal. It still doesn't alter the
sales figures for switch.

What we need to look at is a group like Oasis.

When 2 of the original members left / were sacked. The next album with the
new members had significantly lower sales figures.
However, the NEXT album from them when they had truly become a GROUP again,
bonding / tightening of sound etc, the sales were back up.

So maybe this could work for INXS too.

I actually went off INXS a little round about Shining Star time. I thought
it was a pile of shit. Even though I'd met them. It doesn't make a group
infallible just because you've met them. I thought Welcome to Wherever you
Are was just about OK. And at the time I wasn't too keen on Elegantly
Wasted, although I love the album now.

I actually like Switch. I think it's a good album. I hope they continue to
prosper and I will always follow them.

We all have our opinions, but facts cannot lie ........ BUT these facts
should not alter our opinions. Whether we've met them or not.

Merry Xmas everyone.

INXS forever.

Where do you get that I haven't met them before from my posts? Do you
have psychic powers?? I have autographed sticks from Jon Farriss to
prove it. And like the next poster said--meeting a band shouldn't skew
one's opinion, and sales numbers don't lie. I do wish them success. I
won't lie--I'm not a fan of JD. It's a difficult transition with as
much Michael love as I had.
