Bad news, guys. Because I'll be traveling, I probably won't be able to do
these recaps next week, or for the rest of this season. Anyone want to
volunteer to take over? :)

Anyway, here's tonight's song list. I'll post some comments later...

1. Patrice Pike
"Beautiful Thing" by Patrice Pike (original song)

2. MaGni
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana

3. Ryan Star
"Back of Your Car" by Ryan Star (original song)
I called it. Ryan is this year's Marty Casey.

4. Sweet Stormy McLarge
"Cryin'" by Aerosmith

5. Dilana
"Every Breath You Take" by The Police

6. Toby Rand
"Layla" by Eric Clapton

7. Lukas Rossi
"All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers

Feel free to comment on performances in real time.

She looked really hot this week. Vocals seemed kind of unpolished. May be
her swan song.

AWESOME. You could feel the energy and excitement of the audience through
the tv screen. MaGni is The Shit!

Holy Shit. The energy level went up from 10 to 11 and half. This guy is
playing to win and taking no prisoners.

I wouldn't assume the JD-type character is necessarily going to win this
year.

Just like Suzy McNeil, Storm Large nails the vocals every time. The only
difference is she reminds me Alice Cooper. I love her.

Has he been taking enunciation lessons from Lukas? That was awful. And
awkward. He should be in the bottom three.

Hey I missed your Dilana comment, me I'm "stuck in real time" on the
west coast! Looks like a different mood for Dilana with that song,
had to look up Sweet Stormy's song, Lukas gets one right up his alley,
it looks like. What kind of maniac would ask for "Layla" to be on the
playlist?

I'm just curious what happens to Storm this week, after last week's
debacle.

I can't really do recaps well - maybe one of us can at least manage to
get the singers and song names down and just go from there. Have a safe
and enjoyable trip(s).

I think this song could do well but felt Patrice's singing was a bit

I actually liked this one. But he's disturbing to watch for me - he
looks like he's going to snap any second.

4. Sweet Stormy McLarge
"Cryin'" by Aerosmith
She has the pipes but she's not right for this group - I think she'd be
better going solo.

5. Dilana
"Every Breath You Take" by The Police
I don't care for this song but basically Dilana could sing the phone
book and I'd listen.

6. Toby Rand
"Layla" by Eric Clapton
For me this was the best of the night, I think. I liked his arrangement
and he did a good job with vocals and energy.

7. Lukas Rossi
"All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers
The only song I didn't know. He definately has the look for this band
but the boy can't sing. He's got everything else down tho; the
posturing, the crazed drugged look, the Billy Idol thing.

Side notes:
I love the faces Jason Newsted makes when watching the different
performances.
Gilby Clark is nice to look at.

I think both he and Jason are more serious about the music; Tommy is in

For the first half of the song I was like "who are you and what have done

came back, and it all degenerated from there.

The first four performances tonight were great. The rest were utterly
forgettable.

Who will go: Patrice or Toby
I have the feeling it will be, Patrice AND Toby.
There will be a double elimination in the next three weeks. So there is 33%
of chance to see Patrice and one other person go this week. Could be Storm,
Magni or Toby based on last night's performance.

Patrice is the weakest of the seven. Storm and Toby are much weaker than the
other four. I think either Lukas or Magni won't make the final 3. One bad
performance and they will be gone, especially Magni who has no fan base. In
case Magni and Lukas are both eliminated, Storm could make the final three
based on her personality and look but she won't be chosen.

Patrice and Toby are just not good enough to front for any band. Storm
didn't give us a signature performance. She will run out of time because she
couldn't peak. Magni eliminated himself when he let Supernova know he is a
family man. Lukas is too weird even for Tommy Lee's band.

Dilana is still the one everybody chases, and she is far ahead from
everybody else. Ryan is the only black horse who still has a slight tiny
chance.

I have been voting for this one ever since we could vote. I love his

careful with how much he drinks and gossiping about the other contestants. I
think he is the smartest. Dilana was a regular chatterbox in the interviews
and she did a lot of badmouthing.

I have as well because he is a fellow New Yorker. I have thought from
the beginning that Ryan was the sleeper. I said to a friend of mine
last week that as soon as he has a chance to do his original, I
believe there is a JD moment (what I call the moment he performed
Pretty Vegas and pretty much sealed it up in the eyes of INXS). Last
night he got to do the original and he did not disappoint. He had his
JD moment and I have now convinced he is going to win this thing.

Sorry, no way you can compare Ryan's original with "Pretty Vegas" which was

I am not comparing the songs. In fact, Ryan's was actually totally
original while JD just wrote the lyrics and melody. What I am saying
is that he showed he can write in a style that the rest of the band
can see themselves playing with. And actually, I believe that Ryan
does have this pretty much sealed up right now. Notice that they
wasted some time tonight and didn't do an encore. I believe the
reason for that is that they wouldn't give it to anyone but Ryan after
last night's performances and it would have looked like blatant
favortism if they had given him 2 encores in an row and 3 in total.

Ryan has shown the most versatility. Ryan has shown he can not only
sing, but can play at least 2 instrument VERY well and can write in a
style compatible with what they envision their style to be. Lukas and
Dilana seemed to have peaked too soon. I strongly believe that Ryan
has yet to peak.

1. Patrice Pike
"Beautiful Thing" by Patrice Pike (original song)
I thought the song was very competently written, and her performance
more engaged and natural than any before. It's to hear this song that
Patrice was kept around for this week - since we'd already heard
Zayra's. I like Patrice, but she doesn't fit these three dinosaurs.

The mechanics of the song were OK but not as good as Patrice's,
however the performance was more Supernova-ish. He has the talent to
front the band, but maybe not to hang out in the hotel bar with them.
Post by The Sentinel
4. Sweet Stormy McLarge
"Cryin'" by Aerosmith
Again, I thought Storm did a fantastic interpretation and performance
of a song that shouldn't even be in the mix. This was VERY much like
last week's performance, but Dave liked this one, and kept trying to
kick grass over his vomit from last week.

OK, here's the thing, these four judges have no idea what they want or
need in a lead singer, if it's not a 23 year old David Lee Roth.
Which I'm not sure is what any band wants in the twenty-first century.
Post by The Sentinel
5. Dilana
"Every Breath You Take" by The Police
Is this a song Supernova would cover? Does anybody want to cover
Sting songs? I guess even Supernova plans for a few downtempo sngs,
and Dilana did make this sound the way Supernova *might* go for it,
and that's pretty good. Dilana did a competent job, and she sometimes
lets a very sweet sound come through her throaty rasp, but I still
can't tell if she has any control over it. Did we hear a bit of an
explanation of why she's all pierced and painted, some deal with her
mother? She's a total pro performer, but I'm unconvinced she could do
the job in the studio. That is, would you want to *listen* to a
studio recording of her performances they way they've been delivered
live? I guess they could cut a "live" album. Or hire some studio
talent for scale, or turn on the reverb and effects like she was
Britney. Ew.
Post by The Sentinel
6. Toby Rand
"Layla" by Eric Clapton
The band played the classic version licks, and I even like the slow
(acoustic?) Clapton version as well, but this version was just a hash,
and Toby's running around like a loon did nothing for me. I'd put
this bottom 3 - anyone who knows the song would hate this rendition,
people who don't know the song would hear a few trademark chords and
just a wack performance.
Post by The Sentinel
7. Lukas Rossi
"All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers
Totally self-absorbed and too high-pitched for Supernova. He's
alienated enough for them, his Gothness strikes me as more current
than their Spinal Tap roots, but yeah, he's just a bit light in the
loafers. Though the band and the fans seem to like him. Heh.
Whatever.

Bottom three probably Patrice and Toby and, um, Storm. They'd
probably eliminate Patrice out of sheer boredom at this point, but I
hope Storm simply volunteers to go, so maybe Patrice could stay
another week and keep Dilana company.

--

I finally see one contestant who would do the best as a front for
Supernova, and that's Storm. I wonder if they'll let her sing with
the band tonight? Cuz they don't like her.

Of the rest, of course Dilana would be interesting, BUT CAN SHE SING?
Ryan has the chops, but not the personality to *lead* them, he's too
nice and they're too dissipated. Hmm, any chance Supernova will try
to perform Ryan's song tonight? Magni is absolutely good enough, but
it just looks like they called him in to do the job, he doesn't feel
like he comes from the same gene pool.

Eh. They're all pros, they can do a tour, cut an album, and walk away
when the year is done, whoever they end up with. But it's too darn
bad it won't be Storm.

I wouldn't be surprised if a condition of her being on the show was so

You, my good person, owe me a new keyboard. I should know better than
to read usenet while drinking a carbonated beverage. :-)

I called him as the encore immediately after watching this, and after
watching the rest, I'm not sure that I'd change my mind. This guy is
the real deal, and probably too good for Supernova. Anyone know if any
of his band's music is online? He's definitely on my radar.

And again, the band is stretching for criticism. When the only thing
they can point out is that he hadn't broken anything it shows that
there's nothing they can teach this guy. Personally, I think he's too
good for the band.

He definitely wants this, and it shows. Good on him. Tossing the

obvious. His original was decent, but not as immediately catchy as

I have no idea what the guys want from Storm. He has the goods, and
can easily front the band. But comments like Tommy's show a definite
lack of respect for her. It seems obvious that she's not being
seriously considered. It could be because she has her own band already

Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Took a chance rearranging a classic,
and it didn't pay off. It's a risky song to do in a competetion,
anyway. For me, the best part of the original is not the vocals, but
the extended instrumentals, which ain't gonna happen in this format.

Too bad for Toby -- Rebel Yell would likely be the 'fan selection' song
for him, and he could kill that, but he might not get the chance...

Totally self-absorbed and too high-pitched for Supernova. He's
alienated enough for them, his Gothness strikes me as more current
than their Spinal Tap roots, but yeah, he's just a bit light in the
loafers. Though the band and the fans seem to like him. Heh.
Whatever.
When he sings with his natrual voice, I think he has a chance. I don't
know that he's tried hard enough yet. Maybe he's pacing himself, or
maybe this is all he's got to give. Gilby has it right with the 'back
to the audience' critique. But other than that, I though he did a good
job. Not as good as the band thinks, but good.
Post by JXStern
Bottom three probably Patrice and Toby and, um, Storm. They'd
probably eliminate Patrice out of sheer boredom at this point, but I
hope Storm simply volunteers to go, so maybe Patrice could stay
another week and keep Dilana company.
I'm thinking another double elimination, if they keep the same format
as last year. With only three weeks to go, and seven left, if they
want to get down to three this year, they need to eliminate two per
week. Unless the final has four or five fighting it out, which could
be cool...

Patrice got what she was looking for, I think, with national exposure,
so she can probably go home happy. Toby's never really knocked one out
of the park, so it may be too late for him. I could see either or both
being sent home.
Post by JXStern
Of the rest, of course Dilana would be interesting, BUT CAN SHE SING?
Not nearly well enough, in my opinion.
Post by JXStern
Ryan has the chops, but not the personality to *lead* them, he's too
nice and they're too dissipated.
Let's face facts, they're not looking for a leader, they just want a
singer. The band will do the leading, and whoever they pick will need
to follow.

The theme of Patrice's song was a good thought
but her singing is really blah.

Ryan Starr is killing it lately.

How can they praise Lukas? Ewww

Storm just isn't elevating her game.
Seems like she has the potential.

Toby is erratic.
When he warms up to a song he can sound great though.

Dilana makes a song hers by the time she hits the chorus.
I think that you can really tell that she was forced to conform to Gilby's key, on their collaboration.
She wasn't able to put the impact on the chorus, like she usually does...
but she still pulled off a presentable performance even that time.

Magni is doomed.
They want a singer who lives the Rocker lifestyle,
not a loving family man with a wife and kids.

I've thought either Toby or Dilana from the start...
but Ryan is definitely in the running now too.

Should get interesting at the end.

Gilby is a family man too - check out this pic of him and his pretty
wife, Daniella.

"Beautiful Thing" by Patrice Pike (original song)
I thought it was a good song and performance, but not for this band.
It would have been great if she was trying out for the Bangles.
Probably headed for the bottom three, and headed home.

Another excellent performance. I hope he gets to perform with the band
tonight, because the only question left about him is whether he has any

"Back of Your Car" by Ryan Star (original song)
I called it. Ryan is this year's Marty Casey.
Another good original. It didn't sound like I expect Supernova to
sound, but they all seemed to love it, and they know better than I do
what they're going to sound like.

She couldn't hit the high notes, and she was back to doing the crazy

I liked the arrangement - I've heard this song so many times, it's nice
to hear somebody mix it up a little bit, without destroying what made
it great to begin with. Also, a good, high-energy performance.

As Lukas performances go, this was pretty good. I was amused when he
was checking out his reflection in the guitar - a move we haven't seen
before, and one that seemed to fit his cocky persona.

It's tough to pick a bottom three; there weren't really three bad
performances, but if I had to, I'd pick Storm, Lukas, and Ryan. I
liked Patrice's original better than Ryan's, but he's probably more
likely to get the encore, because they'll want to find this year's
"Trees" and he's more likely to stick around for the long run.

I'll have a post up like I did last week.
Why wasn't there any footage of Dilana bashing the other contestants to
the media? There is also talk that she lifted lyrics from her bands
songs & used them as her own. Not sure what the story is on that so if
anyone can elaborate, have at it!
Josh got Dilana back! HAHA That was funny when he said "I didn't even
want that song anyway." & made her run around the pool naked for it.
LMAO She didn't seem to down with that by the look on her face. She was
like you have got to be kidding!

I really enjoyed the show this week. It was like they all pulled out
super killer performances. Still routing for Ryan. Not only can he sing,
there's something so sexy about him. His song was overall better than
Patrice's. When she was singing and they panned to the guys, it looked
like they were so bored.

Patrice- Beautiful Thing
Also think she's leaving. If I had my way, she would have left last
week. Her downfall to me from the beginning is that she sounds the same
with each song she does. She has no stage presence, but I dig her
tattoos.

Magni- Smells Like Teen Spirit
The best Nirvana cover so far. Finally someone does them justice! I'm
starting to like how he puts his emotion into how he sings the songs.
WTG to him for pulling off an outstanding job even being under the
weather.

Ryan- Back=A0Seat of Your Car
OMG his versatility! I think he was like a quiet storm. Starting off
laying low & unleashing a little bit more of his talent each week. He
can rock it out & be all intense, he can sit at a piano and play the
hell out of a song & now we know he can step it up and write lyrics. His
voice is commanding, too. If you notice he can alter it to suit his
songs very well.

Storm- Cryin'
LMAO crazy eyes is back! She had the best female vocal of the night for
sure. It probably was the hardest to sing. Not one of my favorite songs,
but it was cool to hear a girl's voice in place of Steven Tyler's. That
was interesting. Did she call Dave a bitch?! LMAO

Dilana- Every Breath You Take
I actually liked the beginning when she corralled the audience with the
"everybody breathe" thing. What I didn't like was when she tried to get
a "Dilana" chant going at the end of the song. Did you notice that? She
incorporated her name into that da da da part. That was way cheesy and
didn't go over well which is fine by me! The only reason I liked this
song was because she didn't do the whole thing in the scary voice. I'm
wondering if they're going to ask her to sing in her normal voice
instead of taking it down so low all the time.

Toby - Layla
For me, this was Toby's best one so far. Still don't think it will keep
him out of the bottom 3 though. I want to see him do well for the
Aussies!
=A0
Lukas- All the Things I've Done
Haven't been impressed with any of his performance thus far. Got to give
him credit for doing his thing, but he's too predicable with his song
choices & style.

Fave:
Ryan

My bottom 3:
Patrice
Lukas
Dilana

My last result recap for this season...

Supernova did another new song with cheesy and forgettable lyrics, and this
week they chose Toby to sing with them. We almost fell asleep during the
song.

They played clips from the interviews where Dilana was being a bitch and got
everyone's "shocked" reactions.

Brooke told us who was in the bottom three at the end of last night's show:
Patrice, Storm and Toby. She said if you didn't like that, you're going to
hate this...

And then bam, the local news station cuts in to talk about the radar for
about ten minutes, because there's a severe thunderstorm two counties away
and moving the other way. Up yours, wkbt!

When we come back Magni is standing up and telling us what song he's going
to sing. WTF?

1. Magni
"Fire" by Jimi Hendrix
Well, I know *I* voted for him. Excellent performance, as usual. He's not
just too good for this band, he's clearly too good for its fans.

2. Patrice Pike
"Middle of the Road" by the Pretenders
Back to the usual routine. The only notable thing about this performance
was when she apparently cut her lip (which we originally thought was a cold
sore until we saw Magni pointing it out to her afterwards offering his shirt
sleeve to wipe it off on).

Down to Toby and Storm. Storm's fanbase saves her again.

3. Toby Rand
"Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots
After choosing him to sing their song, Toby being in the bottom three was
egg on SN's faces. His performance here wasn't bad at all, and it was nice
when he went over to Magni and they sang a bar or two together.

This was Patrice's fourth time in the bottom 3 and Magni's second. Because
SN needed to save face, and Tommy has the hots for him, Toby was told he was
safe first. Not really surprising (least of all to her) that Patrice was
eliminated this week. At least she got some good exposure.

Kewl. Total predictability, except for Magni, and him a predictable
save, great choice of song, if a tad moldy, but so is Supernova.

Can't wait for the west coast broadcast, even knowing. Yeah ok, so
I'm watching more for the train wreck than seriously, but I'm still
watching for my new girl Storm.

Thanx.

I would have been much more impressed with Magni's "Fire" had he also been
the sole guitarist during the performance. No smashing the guitar -- just
playing it competently. Nobody's done that yet. It would make for a nice
surprise. Lots of people could sing adequately on "Fire", but could they
play lead, too?

Still, he gets points for selecting a bonafide rock song, instead of "Do the
Hustle" or more STP, Queen or Nirvana.

Dilana has undoubtedly always been arrogant...
but the producers chose to highlight her other side.

Now, they evidentally have had enough,
for them to hammer it home in 2 segments like that.

Yes Dilana, it was edited to accentuate your bad side...
but it's all true and you got what you deserve.

Hey, this is a CBS reality show.
If she doesn't win...
she'd be great on Survivor or Big Brother!
The producers (Tommy Lee) went out of their way to show Dilana's bad
side, perhaps giving a little more interest to a competition that
looked over with already. This can only help the future ratings.

Personally, I could care less if Dilana is the biggest bitch in R&R
history. The fact is that she's the only one of the contestants that
I'd pay to see or even watch for free. Magni did good on "Creep" but
less so last night. Lukas has the looks and attitude of a rock star,
and even has the voice, but his insecurity shows when he won't even
face the audience. Ryan Star did a great job with his original tune,
but does anybody think he's right for what supposedly will be a heavy
metal band? Toby has a great attitude and the band seems to like him,
but he's just a "B" singer. Storm seems like the most likable person
of the group and has a commanding stage presence, but her performances
are spotty at best. Her performance of Dramarama's song, "Anything,
Anything" was one of the seasons highlights. Patrice couldn't carry a
tune in a wheelbarrow, but she had heart, kinda like Zayra her who was
only kept around for comedic value, ala William Hung. She never
realized that people were laughing at her, not cheering because she
could sing.

Dilana, on the other hand, is a natural talent. She brings it every
night and never disappoints even when doing songs we're heard hundreds
of times. Her performance of "Lithium" was awesome. I thought her voice
sounded even better this week when she did "Every Breath you Take."
She'll lose some fans this week because of the clips of her telling the
truth, but I think there can only be one choice for who should win.

Dilana Rules!

The producers (Tommy Lee) went out of their way to show Dilana's bad
side,
It looked like it was pretty hard to work around, by that point.

Personally, I could care less if Dilana is the biggest bitch in R&R
history. The fact is that she's the only one of the contestants that
I'd pay to see
I've been her big fan since day 1 too

Ryan Star did a great job with his original tune,
but does anybody think he's right for what supposedly will be a heavy
metal band?
Maybe a 2006 Heavy Metal band needs something different to survive?
Ryan's dramatics might be just the thing this mediocre band needs.
It might be sort of like a modern day Meat Loaf.
Post by Annika1980
Toby has a great attitude and the band seems to like him,
but he's just a "B" singer.
He often sounds blah... but when he gets on track,
he can sound very vibrant and exciting.
I think he would get along with the band the best, by far.
Post by Annika1980
Zayra who was
only kept around for comedic value, ala William Hung. She never
realized that people were laughing at her, not cheering because she
could sing.
I was laughing at first and shouting for them to vote the silly girl off.
She proved herself to me though.
She took a poppy tune like 'Jenny' and made it hard.
She also sounded great on her original and great on her eviction day, with 'Razorblade'.

She's doing her thing and she can only get better.
Top producers will really be able to sweeten her songs in the studio.
The video directors will be fighting for the opportunity to shoot her.

Dilana Rules!
If Ryan keeps his momentum, it could be a battle.

Magni did good on "Creep" but less so last night.
That's like saying his performance was only nine times better than the other
contestants' in stead of ten.
Lukas has the looks and attitude of a rock star, and even has the voice,
but his
insecurity shows when he won't even face the audience.
I'm pretty sure the back to the audience thing is scripted. Either that or
a deliberate attempt to show a cocky "attitude". Still not impressed.
Ryan Star did a great job with his original tune,
but does anybody think he's right for what supposedly will be a heavy
metal band?
Actually, I think Ryan Star has the most natural heavy metal voice out of
all the contestants. He might look like Bruce Springsteen, but he can wail
like Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister.

Based on what we've heard of SN's songs so far, he might actually be too
heavy and intense for them. LOL
Toby has a great attitude and the band seems to like him,
but he's just a "B" singer.
Agreed.
Storm seems like the most likable person
of the group and has a commanding stage presence, but her performances
are spotty at best.
Dilana, on the other hand, is a natural talent. She brings it every
night and never disappoints even when doing songs we're heard hundreds
of times.
???!

Apart from the lilkable person bit, the way you see Storm is how I feel
about Dilana, and vice versa.

Incidentally, I had a strange dream about Storm last night. I was a on a
plane (or a train), and I noticed one of the stewardesses was doing
something "suspicious". I thought I should report her, in case she was
helping terrorists or something, but then Storm came up and hit her and
started yelling at her. Somebody else grabbed her arm and yelled "Storm!
Storm!", and she was like "What?!" and they said "You just hit her with the
soft side of your hand!" A shocked and worried look suddenly came over
Storm's face and she said "Oh my god... I'm becoming soft!" Then she went
after the stewardess and became really violent.

IIRC, the stewardess ended up asphyxiated between Storm's "pillows".
She'll lose some fans this week because of the clips of her telling the
truth, but I think there can only be one choice for who should win.
Dilana Rules!
Unless the band is holding back some killer material (which I'm very
skeptical about), this show may end up like American Idol, where all the
winners after the first season are basically a joke and the runner-ups are
better off.

Now, she is trying to do some damage control
but you can tell that the rude arrogant Dilana is the real Dilana
What kills me is at first she was gonna be honest about her comments
about Lukas, by saying she meant them, then as soon as the crowd booed
she backpedaled and she no, wait, she didn't mean them. I'd have
respected her more if she hadn't backpedaled. She's lost my
fandom...(like she cares)

Actually, the question was did she mean what she said to Ryan (about him
being nothing without the band) on his original song. On the website you
can hear her say later that she was kidding, though I think he took it
seriously. So when they asked her if she meant what she said, I believe she
was saying "yes" to the kidding around part, but the audience only saw the
first part. And the part where Ryan is whining about her teasing him. Pass
the Cheerios, Lukas.

Supernova did another new song with cheesy and forgettable lyrics, and this
week they chose Toby to sing with them. We almost fell asleep during the
song.
I agree, that was a totally hokey number, so out of character for Jason
especially. I can't believe he's really into this considering his
metal/punk background. Does he need the paycheck that badly? Also, is
he married?
I agree with both comments.

From the clips, I thought Magni was doing a better job, btw. Toby was
alright, dawg, but he doesn't really have big-league chops.

They played clips from the interviews where Dilana was being a bitch and got
everyone's "shocked" reactions.
She blamed it on the editing and in part she's right. I'm sure there
were miles of footage from those clinic interviews that weren't used.
In the end, she should have smiled, nodded and played nice--flashing a
nipple wouldn't have been bad either.
Does she have room for one more tattoo, maybe on the back of her hand,
that says STFU? Hey, is it a surprise that any rock star is not Ms.
Manners? Her comments were mostly accurate, but yeah, bitchy and
uncalled-for. Truth? We can't handle the Truth. The thing is,
watching her body language through the show, I think Dilana was
really, really hurt by this treatment/reveal. I think she can
recover, IF she learns to smile and be nice. Hey, darlin', just think
of it as a performance, you're good at that - fabulous, in fact. But
especially if you see a camera or a reporter (or a cop!), remember
those four little letters.

Patrice, Storm and Toby. She said if you didn't like that, you're going to
hate this...
They deserved to be in there...

And then bam, the local news station cuts in to talk about the radar for
about ten minutes, because there's a severe thunderstorm two counties away
and moving the other way. Up yours, wkbt!
When we come back Magni is standing up and telling us what song he's going
to sing. WTF?
Not enough votes from Iceland.

As did Magni. His version of SLTS was not good, sorry. He's got what it
takes to win, that cover just wasn't good.
I thought it was fine, if too much like the original.

1. Magni
"Fire" by Jimi Hendrix
Well, I know *I* voted for him. Excellent performance, as usual. He's not
just too good for this band, he's clearly too good for its fans.
He killed it. No way they were sending him home, even if he stood there
and watched the band play. BTW, the TV mix is terrible on the band.
Guitar waaaaay too loud, drowning out the voice. It's not doing that
guitarist any favors either, because he can play.
Agree on the mix, but at least they did it to all three. I loved the
song selection, BUT it is more about guitar licks than voice. Magni -
and Hendrix - had Tommy rockin' out. And me. Patrice should have
done Purple Haze, Toby Watchtower.

2. Patrice Pike
"Middle of the Road" by the Pretenders
Back to the usual routine. The only notable thing about this performance
was when she apparently cut her lip (which we originally thought was a cold
sore until we saw Magni pointing it out to her afterwards offering his shirt
sleeve to wipe it off on).
I thought she did a great job; she's not right for a hard rock band,
but she nailed that song. She was screwed the second Toby was called to
the bottom three.
What you said.
Post by b***@yahoo.com
Had Storm been called up, I think it may have been
close between her and Patrice.
Don't know what Storm had picked out of course, but the band seems to
dislike her so, ... still, it's Patrice with all the black points, I
think she still would have gone.
Post by b***@yahoo.com
BTW, isn't Storm's posturing in the
background getting tiresome. She's lucky she looks so damn good.
Just trying to get herself a few milliseconds of camera time. I think
she was justifiably pissed NOT to be in the bottom three, where she
could perform again!
Post by b***@yahoo.com
Post by The Sentinel
Down to Toby and Storm. Storm's fanbase saves her again.
3. Toby Rand
"Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots
After choosing him to sing their song, Toby being in the bottom three was
egg on SN's faces. His performance here wasn't bad at all, and it was nice
when he went over to Magni and they sang a bar or two together.
How many times do we have to hear this freaking song??
Was it done already this year? I don't recall.
Post by b***@yahoo.com
Damn, the song
selection has thinned out this season. Going to get real tiresome for
Rockstar: Van Halen next season. Don't like this guy. Go home.
He will, probably next week, unless Dilana does a total meltdown or
something.
Post by b***@yahoo.com
Post by The Sentinel
This was Patrice's fourth time in the bottom 3 and Magni's second. Because
SN needed to save face, and Tommy has the hots for him, Toby was told he was
safe first. Not really surprising (least of all to her) that Patrice was
eliminated this week. At least she got some good exposure.
Good point and good call by the band.
Concur.

I believe it was Magni that did it..... unless it was Josh, the blues
guy. It was one of those.

The show is on in the middle of the night in Iceland and there is
simply not enough interest for him to get any votes from Iceland, I
guess 99% of his votes come from within the USA.

Eh, I watched the interviews on the website. I didn't think it was so bad,
and if it was, there were others that said similar things. Namely Lukas.
So he need not cry in his Cheerios. From my perspective, Dilana was asked
direct questions, and gave direct answers. It was heavily edited, evidenced
by the "mean" interviewer telling Lukas that Dilana wanted to "save" him,
which we never saw. We only saw the part about him being a different person
from hour to hour.

It's all spin, spin, spin, just to stir up a little controversy, interest,
and ratings.

My last result recap for this season...
Supernova did another new song with cheesy and forgettable lyrics, and this
week they chose Toby to sing with them. We almost fell asleep during the
song.
Like last week's, this was pretty forgetable. I'm wondering if
Supernova are keeping their favourites until later, so that the person
they want to win will sing what they feel is their best song.

It's not so much that she was a bitch in the interviews, it was that
she showed absolutely no media savy at all. Even Mr Personality Lukas
showed more class than Dilana when it came to talking about the
others.

The biggest gaffe on her part, though, was trying to tell Ryan that he
was nothing without the House Band. I wonder if the producers fed her
that line. I think Ryan handled that pretty good. Lots of folks would
have exploded on her.

Appropos name for this song -- definitely 'middle of the road'. Not
bad, but not great. I can't believe she couldn't pull off another
performance on par with "My Iron Lung".

She got what she wanted / needed with national exposure around the time
that her new album is due. I'm sure she found a few more fans.
